While most of the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority’s annual Homeless Count in Malibu could be conducted from volunteers’ cars, there were three areas — the Civic Center area, and Zuma and Tuna canyons — where volunteers instead went on foot and were accompanied by Malibu/Lost Hills deputies for safety and security.
