On Sunday, Aug. 11, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department located Howard Leo Shaw, a 51-year-old man who they had asked the public to help them locate three days prior.

Shaw, who is a Malibu-area transient, had not been heard from since a phonecall with his family on the evening of May 15. Family members recently became concerned for his well-being when he did not pay his phone bill, said Detective Matt Pereida, of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Homicide Bureau, Missing Persons Unit.

Shaw has now reconnected with his family, and the public’s assistance is no longer needed, Pereida said.
