Members of the Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District Board of Education announced at their meeting on Wednesday, Aug. 13, Malibu High School’s new assistant principal.
Chris Regan, who served at the District’s John Adams Middle School (JAMS) for the past four years, joins newly appointed interim principal Dave Jackson as MHS’s new administrators.
Before joining SMMUSD, Regan – who has also taught Spanish – served as the assistant principal of Agoura High School, the dean of student support at Alice C. Stelle Middle School and as the principal of secondary summer school for the Las Virgenes Unified School District.
During his service at JAMS, Regan worked with the special education services team to decrease the achievement gap for students with special needs.
He collaborated with staff to create Professional Learning Communities, implement student achievement assessments directly into the curriculum and guided teachers in incorporating meaningful technology into their daily lessons to increase student engagement.
SMMUSD Superintendent Sandra Lyon, in a District press release, said, “Mr. Regan focuses on creating an environment of trust and caring on his school campus by making strong relationships with employees, students and parents. He works closely with all the adults in a school community in order to create a supportive school climate in which all students can succeed.”
