Athlete of the Week: 10 questions with Farah Stack
How long have you been swimming and how did you get started?
I started swimming when I was 7 years old. My mom put me on the new swim team that had started at the Malibu High School pool. She can’t swim and she wanted to make sure that I would be extremely safe in the water. I have been swimming for eight years and I am on the Malibu Seawolves swim team.
What’s your favorite thing about swimming and why?
My favorite thing about swimming is that it has helped me learn how to focus and work hard in everything I do including academics. It has also taught me to not give up.
What is your favorite subject in school and why?
My favorite subject in school is English. I like to read and I also enjoy writing.
What are you plans for after high school graduation?
After high school I would like to go to college, and hopefully swim for my college.
What would you like to study in college?
I do not have a definite area I want to focus on. I want to take many different classes in many subjects and see which I like the best.
What would your dream job be?
My dream job would be doing something that helps others and makes me feel like I am making a positive impact in the world.
If you could speak any other language fluently, what would it be and why?
I would like to learn Urdu which is the language my grandmother and mother speak.
What is your favorite band or artist?
My favorite artist is Lorde and my favorite band right now is Capital Cities.
Who is your role model in life and why?
My role model is my mom. She likes to do everything and she loves to learn. She also spends a lot of time with me and my brothers and she helps us be successful in academics, athletics, and in life.
Where is your favorite place in Malibu to spend time?
My favorite place in Malibu is Zuma Beach during the summer when I am participating in the L.A. County Junior Lifeguard program and in the fall when I am in the Nautica Malibu Triathlon.
