The lifeless body of a gray whale was found on County Line Beach on the outskirts of Malibu Sunday morning, March 24. 

A call came in to the California Highway Patrol in Ventura County at 3:11 a.m. about a large whale that washed ashore.

The Channel Islands Marine and Wildlife Center was informed and stated it will determine the probable cause of death after analysing the results of a necropsy, which was conducted Tuesday, March 26.
