Authorities say county firefighters’ participation in a COVID-19 stand down with agencies from around the county won’t affect day-to-day operations. Scott Steepleton/Malibu Surfside News

Starting Wednesday, the Los Angeles County Fire Department started taking part in a COVID-19 stand down, emphasizing physical distancing, the importance of face coverings and the vital role personal protective equipment plays in the lives of first responders.

According to a statement, firefighting operations won't be affected.

As of Monday, 138 LACoFD members had tested positive for COVID-19; 114 had returned to work while 24 others are recovering at home. An additional 36 are awaiting test results.
