The lone Malibu City Council member able to seek another term pulled papers for the Nov. 3 race, meaning the filing period for those eyeing one of three seats up for grabs is Aug 7.
As of today, nine people have pulled papers, including incumbent Rick Mullen, according to Heather Glaser, city clerk. None has qualified for the ballot.
Mullen, a captain with the Los Angeles County Fire Department, was first elected in November 2016. His deciding to make another run moved the filing deadline up from Aug. 12.
