Cal Fire, the state firefighting agency, is proposing to conduct a prescribed burn later this year of 431 acres in the Big Rock area of Malibu to reduce the amount of flammable vegetation that could become fuel in a future wildfire as part of its ongoing fire prevention efforts.

At the city manager’s request, the L.A. County Fire Department will give a public presentation at the City Council meeting on Monday, May 13, to explain the process and safety precautions and answer questions from the City Councilmembers.
