The 2019 Malibu State of the City Address took place almost exactly six months after the Woolsey Fire swept through Malibu. The event was more somber than it has been in other years but the message was positive: 

Malibu is strong and the community will recover.

Lenise Soren, the chairwoman of the Malibu Chamber of Commerce, which sponsors the annual event, began with a moment of silence for the losses suffered in Malibu and its neighboring communities during the wildfire.
