As devastating as they might be, emergency situations offer people a chance to prove their mettle.

Matthew Myerhoff, Malibu’s media information officer, was in that situation during the Woolsey Fire and on April 10, he was recognized for his communications efforts during the community tragedy.  

Myerhoff was given the Frank Potter Cowan Crisis Communications Award by the California Association of Public Information Officials at its annual conference in Newport Beach.
