When news spread of the death of junior shooting guard Ari Ross’ father, Rick, the Malibu Sharks girls basketball team discussed postponing their Thursday, Jan. 22, game against the Grace Brethren Lancers.

But the team decided to play instead, and dedicated the game to Ari, who unexpectedly showed up to support her teammates.

“I told them before the game, ‘This is what teams are about,’” coach Andy Meyer said. “You gotta pull together off the court, you gotta pull together on the court. And I think they did.”
