The Malibu High School girls basketball team broke even at the Avalon Tournament on Catalina Island, going 2-2 in contests against Hesperia, AGBU and Vaughn on Thursday, Jan. 1, and Friday, Jan. 2.
An 18-3 first quarter in the opening game of the tournament for the Sharks against the AGBU Titans had Malibu scrambling to catch up for the remainder of the game.
Despite Kendall Jordan’s 11 points and six rebounds, as well as Nina Hungerland’s six points and Gianna Chaisson’s six rebounds, the Sharks fell 44-24.
