Seeking a breather, Ray Humphrey stepped down as head coach of the Malibu High School football program last week after a 10-year run with the program.

“I just think I needed a break and I’ve had a great time doing it,” Humphrey said. “I love Malibu and the kids, but this has been something I’ve thought about for a while . . . but what I’ll miss most is watching how the kids’ work ethic grows, and you see that when you work with such a small amount of kids and ask them to go into battle each week.”
