Gov. Gavin Newsom is urging local governments to follow his lead and make all employees get inoculated against COVID-19 or submit to weekly testing.
The move comes a little more than a month before California voters decide whether to recall the Democrat over, among other things, his response to the pandemic.
According to a UC Berkeley Institute of Governmental Studies poll co-sponsored by the Los Angeles Times, Californians who say they expect to vote in the September recall election are almost evenly divided over whether to remove Newsom from office.
Of a vaccine mandate, Malibu Interim City Manager Steve McClary told Surfside News, “We will be looking into this but at this point I can’t say if we will or not.”
Such a mandate would require a vote of the City Council.
