With California just a couple weeks away from re-opening, a new chapter is about to begin.

Especially for fans of the Malibu Library.

As statewide restrictions are now relaxing amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the library at 23519 W. Civic Center Way is turning a page by offering a summer full of outdoor programs for the family.

The arts, crafts and performances for kids and teens will be held Wednesdays from June 1 through Aug. 25. Reservations are required for the activities, which will be held in sessions divided by age: 11 to 11:30 a.m. for children ages 3-5 and 2 to 2:30 and 3:30 to 4 p.m. for kids ages 6-17. Youth age 9 and younger must be accompanied by a parent or caregiver.

The series kicks off with “Decorate Your Own Mini Book” June 2 for the youngsters and “Create Your Own Origami Pet” for the older kids. On June 9, the little ones can enter the Land of Imagination with Ms. Bits N’ Bobs, while preteens and teens can “Create a Story with Cosmos,” with director Cosmos Kiindarius, or explore myths and legends using masks – the fun kind – and movement with Boxtales Theatre Company.

Masks – the protective ones – and physical distancing will be required. No food or drinks will be allowed. Activities are weather-permitting.
