Masks will be required for most Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District students regardless of vaccination status in the 2021-22 school year.

This in accordance with new guidelines from the Los Angeles County Public Health Department for a return to full in-person instruction.

Physical distancing will still be in place as long as it doesn’t interfere with instruction.

At the same time, the California Department of Education has authorized an option for independent study.

District officials will explain their independent study option at 6 p.m. August 3 via Zoom: us06web.zoom.us/j/87443915002.
