The Ventura County Sheriff's Department announced Aug. 5 that speed appears to have been a factor in a fiery car crash that claimed the lives of two 2019 Oaks Christian School graduates.

The school community is mourning the loss of Ezekiel “Zeke” Bishop, 20, of Simi Valley and Ryan Moore Breaux, 18, of Woodland Hills. Breaux is the brother of Long Beach Grammy-winning singer and producer Frank Ocean.

Head of School Rob Black first announced the names; authorities in Ventura County confirmed them Aug. 5 while also attributing the crash to speed.

“The school community, through faculty staff and leadership, has reached out to the families of both Zeke and Ryan to express our heartache and grief, pray with them and embrace them with love and compassion," Black said. "We ask that our community join us in lifting these families up in prayer as they grieve the loss of these very special two young men.”

According to the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department, the men died when their Tesla hit a tree at Westlake Boulevard and Skelton Canyon Circle about 1:30 a.m. Aug. 2.
