Staff Report
6:30 pm PDT October 22, 2019

“Moderate to strong” Santa Ana winds and a “very low” relative humidity are expected across most of Los Angeles and Ventura counties the evening of Wednesday, Oct. 23, through Friday, Oct. 25.

“There is still some uncertainty in the strength of the winds, but peak gusts between 45 and 65 mph is the most likely outcome,” the National Weather Service alert states. “Minimum humidities will likely lower well below 10 percent, with maximum temperatures between 87 and 97. This is a dangerous situation with an environment ripe for large and fast fire growth, and a Red Flag Warning is in effect as a result.

The warning remains in effect from 1 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 24 to 10 p.m. Friday, Oct. 25.

Residents are reminded to use extreme caution with potential fire ignition sources.
