An immediate evacuation of Malibu Park, from Busch Drive to Phillip Avenue, was ordered at 4 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 29, because of a mudslide.

The mudslide was reported between Horizon Drive and Busch Drive, and fire and public works were on scene cleaning up as of 5:30 p.m., according to the City of Malibu.

No injuries were reported, and no structure damage was incurred, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Information Bureau.

Debris cleanup efforts continued into Friday, Nov. 30. Cuthbert Road remained closed up until 8:45 a.m. Friday, though other area streets reopened at 9:30 p.m. the night prior.

Webster Elementary School and Pepperdine University closed their campuses because of the weather on Nov. 29, but both reopened the next day.

City crews were patrolling the canyon roads and city streets with blade trucks on Friday, according to the City of Malibu. Southern California Edison and communication providers also continued to repair fire-damaged lines.
