As school starts in Malibu, parents and teachers hurriedly prepare in order to ensure students have backpacks, books, and supplies. It’s an exciting, invigorating time. 

In America, education is a fundamental right. Not so for kids in Kenya, where those lucky enough to attend school still struggle to get an education. A child has to walk — usually a very long way — to arrive at a school with no electricity or water.
