A small fire broke out near on Latigo Shore Drive and Seagull Way late Wednesday, June 8, but was quickly extinguished, said Sgt. Rod Loughridge of the Malibu-Lost Hills Sheriff Station.
The fire was originally reported as a brush fire. But when Sheriff deputies and Los Angeles County Fire Department personnel arrived at the scene, they found that a “porta potty” and small wooden fence were on fire, Loughridge said.
The fire department determined that the fire likely was caused by a discarded lit cigarette, Loughridge said.
