HTB's Beach 'Lovers' List

Heal the Bay asks, "Want to set an idyllic mood on Valentine's Day?" The group says its guide highlights the state's most romantic beaches that "offer serene views as well as shores worthy of a dreamy stroll."

The 10 beaches are touted as "top spots for healthy romance along the West Coast."

"Best of all," according to HTB, "They're also clean, with all beaches receiving 'A' water-quality grades" from the group's  Beach Report Card.

The winner of the title of "Heal the Bay's Most Romantic Beach" is—no surprise—in the Malibu area—Encinal Canyon, El Matador Beach, which is dubbed the "Ocean Lover's Choice."

This beach won Heal the Bay's online poll that asked supporters to share their favorite romantic beach along the West Coast. The group states, "You can't get much more dramatic than this secluded rocky cove."

The other top beaches are—in the order of the number of votes they received in HTB's online poll:  2) Abalone Cove in Rancho Palos Verdes; 3) Laguna Beach in Orange County; 4) Stinson Beach in Marin County (North and South); 5) Windansea in La Jolla; 6) Morro Strand Beach along the Central Coast; 7) Ocean Beach in San Francisco; 8) Neskowin Beach in Oregon; 9) Westport Beach in Washington; and 10) Sunset Beach in Santa Cruz County.
