Athlete of the Week: 10 questions with Sasha Savitsky

Sasha Savitsky is a defender on the Malibu High School girls varsity soccer team.

How did you get involved in soccer and when did you get started?
I’ve been playing soccer for as long as I can remember. My whole family is very soccer oriented.  It was always kind of a part of growing up in my family. I started playing AYSO and then I think I started playing club in [Under] 11, I want to say. Soccer’s just always been a big part of my life.

What’s your favorite thing about soccer?

10 questions with Cameron Smoller

Cameron Smoller is a senior  center middle on the Malibu High School boys soccer team.

How did you get into soccer?
I first got into soccer when my oldest brother Cully started playing. I went to his games and fell in love with the sport.

What’s your favorite thing about soccer?
The finesse and the team. It’s all about the team and playing with passion. You just feel special when you play soccer.

What’s the most challenging part of soccer?

10 questions with Liam Noonan

Liam Noonan is a sophomore center midfielder for the Malibu High School boys soccer team.

How did you get involved in soccer and when did you get started?

I started when my parents just put me into AYSO. By the time I was 8, I wanted to go to a higher level, so I just started playing club, and it just progressed from there.

What’s your favorite thing about soccer?

I like the competition and the intensity of the games.

Athlete of the Week: Sophie Spivack

10 Questions with Sophie Spivack

Sophie Spivack is a freshman on the Malibu High School varsity water polo team.

How long have you been playing water polo?

I’ve been playing for four years, and I got into it by seeing a family friend who plays for Ventura.

What’s your favorite thing about water polo?

The whole team is like a family, and it’s such a team sport.
