10 Questions with Andre Simoneau

Andre Simoneau is a senior pitcher on the Malibu High School Baseball team.

How did you get into baseball?
I’ve been playing since I was 5, and I started because my mom was really into it. She got me started with T-ball.

What do you like most about baseball?
I like pitching and just going out there to make your own game and being responsible for a bunch of guys.

What the most challenging part about being a pitcher?
Just letting go of everything that’s already happened and going from there.

Athlete of the Week: 10 questions with Konrad Ulich

Konrad Ulich is a 13-year-old tennis player.

How did you get involved in tennis and when did you get started?
I started when I was 5 years old. I would watch my parents and older sister, Katarina, play tennis and that made me want to play. I started playing competitively when I was 10 after attending the 2012 Olympic Games in London and watching the tennis final between Roger Federer and Andy Murray. I saw the dedication that both players had and it really inspired me.

Athlete of the Week: 10 questions with Noah Gorelick

Noah Gorelick is a senior captain on the Malibu High School lacrosse team.

How did you get into lacrosse?
When my friend Winston Churchill and I were younger, he got me into it. In seventh grade I was looking for a good sport to play and I was kind of done with water polo, so I picked up lacrosse and it was the thing to do at the time.

What’s your favorite part about lacrosse?
I like how technical it is. It’s a game where you have to do something thinking, which i like. I also like the team spirit that comes with it.

Athlete of the Week 10 questions with Declan Sheridan

When did you start playing baseball?
I played my first year of T-ball when I was 6.

How did you get involved?
I got involved in baseball just like most kids — I signed up. But as soon as I started I was immediately hooked.

Who is your role model and why?
My role model is my dad because of the way he carries himself every day. He is always kind and keeps me comfortable and in a good mood. He’s just a great guy.
