Pat Healy’s effort to confront the declining monarch butterfly population began with a meeting at her Malibu home in the summer of 2013.
Fifteen people – many of whom gardeners – showed up for the discussion. What followed was a meeting with David Snow, a garden designer, who spoke to the group about a host of topics including the monarch butterfly’s migration patterns and the single most important plant to it: milkweed.
