MJCS welcomes Scott Wells Memorial Fund concert
On Saturday, July 19, the Malibu Jewish Center and Synagogue hosted Malibu Rocks, a concert sponsored by the Scotts Wells Memorial Fund to “celebrate summer — celebrate life.”
The event featured performances from Cantor Marcelo Gindlin, Lenny Goldsmith and The New Old, Jared Weinstock, Steph Wells and The Berger Sanchez Project among others.
The Scott Wells Memorial Fund was created in memory of Scott Wells, who died in 2012 after a two-year battle with colon cancer.
“Scott was a passionate filmmaker and musician with a beautiful soul,” Wells’ mother, Lori Gray, said in a press release for the event. “The goal of the Scott Wells Memorial Fund is to promote musicians, filmmakers, poets and artists by providing a venue and funding for these events.”
