MariSol closes third record-breaking land sale
MariSol, a private residential development in Malibu, sealed the second highest land sale of the year in Malibu for one of their lots on Ellice Street on March 27, according to the Combined Los Angeles/Westside Multiple Listing Service.
The 43,592-square-foot lot sold for $6.5 million, and is one of three MariSol’s listings in the top five largest land sales for the year. Two other MariSol lots sold for $5.5 million and $3.1 million, both in November of 2013.
“We’ve really dominated that section of the market,” said MariSol’s director of sales Scott Morris. “Nothing else really compares to what we have because our lots aren’t just raw land; they’re all developed out and flat and you can easily build a house on them. There’s nothing else like that in Malibu.”
MariSol purchased 80 acres of raw land near the Ventura County line in 2005 and began placing them on the market in 2012. Situated on a mountainside overlooking the County line surfbreak, Morris believes the location of MariSol’s lots has been a contributing factor to their success on the market.
“Most importantly are the extraordinary unobstructed oceanfront views and a resort-style lifestyle that feels like you’re truly ‘off the grid,’ but only 30 miles from Santa Monica,” Morris said.
MariSol is currently developing another of their lots to sell in the near future, placing a Doug Burdge designed home on one of their Ellice Street lots.
The majority of MariSol’s lots amount to approximately an acre apiece and, according to Morris, MariSol, to date, have seven homes in their development that have already been built or are currently under construction.
