Malibu Surfside News announces Mother's Day contest winner
“If I had the choice to change my mom in any way, I wouldn’t because she is a perfect mom the way that she is and I truly love her for that,” Mother’s Day essay contest winner Hamish Buran concluded.
With an entry that was adorable and heartwarming from start to finish, Hamish was crowned the winner of the Surfside’s Mother’s Day essay contest. The full essay on Hamish’s mom, Tara Buran, can be read in the text that follows.
Tara will also receive a generous prize package from CURE Salon & Spa, located at 22741 Pacific Coast Highway, Suite 200. CURE Salon & Spa will offer the winner “a day of CURE” featuring a hair conditioning treatment, massage and a hydra facial (valued at $500). The Surfside thanks CURE for its generous donation, and we hope that you all had a lovely Mother’s Day.
The winning entry
My mom is incredible. She has five kids and she is a single mom. I don’t know how she is still standing after all of the hard work she has to go through. My older sister, Amelia, is 16 and she has autism and my mom has pushed and worked so hard to get her into the right special ed programs so that it is easier for Amelia. My mom doesn’t have a nanny, so she has to do all of the driving herself which is enough to make many other people pass out, by itself. She also cooks, does laundry, does dishes and even though me and my siblings help her with these things, it is still a lot of work for her. My mom deserves this award more than anyone else you could name because even after all of this work that she does, which is definitely a lot, she still finds some time to be able to hang out with us. She truly does all that she does, for us. She is such a caring person and is the best mom that I could ever ask for. If I had the choice to change my mom in any way, I wouldn’t because she is a perfect mom the way that she is and I truly love her for that.
