Daisy, dog of Marc and Badieh Levin

My dog, Daisy, passed away in her sleep on Jan. 2. She would have been 17.

We were together since inception.

Aside from her loving look, she was a survivor of the last order. Daisy was run over at nine months old — it was the worst nightmare. Away from Malibu, a local vet born in Pakistan saved her life. She lost her front leg and fractured her rear one. No matter; Daisy still hip-hopped everywhere, ran furiously everywhere and dug holes in the sand. Always in Malibu.

I am not a kid anymore. Despite this, I was married last year. Daisy probably had more to do with it than me. Daisy, in her new red wagon with delicate white lace trim, was the centerpiece of the wedding. My wife, with the help of Dr. Karl Jandry of UC Davis and Dr. John Lupo of Malibu, kept Daisy going throughout her last year.

No dreaded disease, just a long, loving life.
