Athlete of the Week: 10 questions with Spencer Sinding

Spencer Sinding is a sophomore swimmer at Malibu High School.

How did you start swimming?

I started swimming competitively a bit after I started water polo.

What do you enjoy most about swimming?

I like the swim meets and I like how there’s a lot of competition in them and you get to be with your friends and swim against different people.

What do you hope you’ll get out of swimming in high school?

It’s keeping me in shape, which is good, but I hope to get fast enough to be on a good college water polo team.

What do you hope to study in college?

Architecture. My plan was to be a firefighter during my off time.

How do you enjoy your free time from school and swimming?

Going to the beach and hanging with friends.

If you could do anything in the world, what would it be?

I’d like to travel the word, which would be cool. I’ve always wanted to go to Thailand and island hop.

What’s your dream job and why?

An architect who designs high-end houses.

If you could fluently speak another language, which would it be?

Croatian because I’ve always liked the language and I’m 25 percent Croatian.

Do you have a favorite subject in school?

Right now I like history, but I’ve always seemed to like math because it’s straight to the point.

What’s your favorite genre of movies?

Comedy. I seem to just like those movies most.
