From the Assistant Editor: What’s your healthy recipe, Malibu?
I had a thought the other day as I struggled to catch my breath on the treadmill.
“You know, getting back to the gym is great and all,” I said to myself, still proud that I made it back for the first time in three months, “but what I really need is to stop eating out so much and start cooking my own healthy meals.”
It was a great thought, and one that motivated me for about another half mile until the realization set in that I really haven’t learned to cook anything healthy.
It’s a crazy thought, I understand, but when you’re a 20-something not even a year out of college, you’re still pretty green to a lot of things about life; not least of which can be simple aspects of home economics such as cooking.
Malibu, I do my best to not ask more from the community than a picture and a few quotes for the paper, but I could use some food for thought in the form of recipes for quick, easy, healthy and maybe even cheap meals; I’m also sure there’s a few other residents who are looking for new recipes as well.
A few months ago, the Malibu Surfside News ran a weekly story called “Malibu Homestyle,” where we featured recipes that residents wanted to share with the community.
If you would like to share any recipes - even those that may be more delicious than healthy - with me and your community, please send me an email at firstname.lastname@example.org with the recipe, and perhaps a photo or two of your dish if you want.
