Sharks Downed 13-6 in CIF-SS Finals

Sean Merrick scored five goals, but the Malibu Sharks boys water polo team was bested by Cerritos High School 13-6  in Saturday's Southern Section Division IV championship game at Wollett Aquatics Center in Irvine.

Coming off a terrific 28-3 season,  Malibu was making its title competition debut against a two-time division title winner.  Though tied after the first quarter, the Cerritos Dons put their experience to work and dominated the rest of the game.

Hometown fans still had plenty to cheer about when the first title runner-up plaque in the water polo program's history was held aloft.
