Athlete of the Week: 10 Questions with Bowen Brock, MSN Lacrosse
Bowen Brock, 17, is a sophomore lacrosse player who plays attack for the Malibu Sharks.
What are your thoughts on this season?
The season was pretty rough, but I feel like it was more of a learning experience for all of us and the new guys.
Is there any one area you most improved on over the course of the year?
I definitely improved my off hand the most this season. My coaches taught me a lot and now I’m comfortable using both my left and my right to pass and shoot.
What are you most looking forward to for next season?
I am really looking forward to being more competitive next year and better developing my skills as a player.
What do you like about going to school in Malibu?
I love that everyone knows each other and that it’s a very tight community.
What’s your dream job?
I’ve always wanted to be an architect. It’s always been an interest of mine.
Who was your biggest role model growing up and why?
My dad has been my biggest role model because he always pushes me to do my best and live life to the fullest.
Do you have a favorite pump-up song to listen to pre-game?
One song that really gets me going before a game is “Don’t Die” by Killer Mike. It gets me to really get pumped up and focused on playing.
What subjects do you like best in school?
I love science, it is very interesting to learn about. It also is challenging, but I like being challenged.
Where in the world do you most want to travel to?
I would love to travel to Africa. I have always wanted to see the exotic animals.
What’s the best advice you’ve ever gotten, in sports or life in general?
Good question. My mom always told me to be myself and make good choices. This applies to both my life and my sports.
